Solar panels on our roof: Sustainable textile production in the Netherlands

Sustainable textiles go beyond the choice of materials. The production process itself plays a key role.

That’s why we recently installed 832 solar panels on the roof of our factory in Oldenzaal. Together, they generate over 403,000 watt-peak of clean energy.

A measurable step toward sustainable textiles

Installing solar panels is a concrete move in our commitment to sustainable textile solutions. A significant part of the electricity we use for our machinery and processes now comes from our own solar energy. This helps reduce our CO₂ emissions.

More than just materials

Zwartz has been using natural raw materials for years—less harmful to the environment than synthetic alternatives. By also shifting to clean energy, we’re making the entire production process more sustainable—from yarn to finished fabric.

This investment makes our production demonstrably more sustainable, without compromising on quality or delivery reliability.

Part of a broader approach

The solar panel installation is part of our wider vision for future-proof manufacturing. We continue to critically assess where we can improve—in materials, in processes, and in energy use.

Step by step, we’re building a production environment with less environmental impact—while maintaining the technical standards our clients rely on. We continue to deliver what our customers expect from us: dependable, sustainable textile solutions, made in the Netherlands.
